Lemke Facial Surgery SkinCare101 Analysis

Our Skin The epidermis—the visible layer of your skin—is a mere 1/1000 of an inch thick. Just think, your whole appearance depends on the visible condition of less than a millimeter of skin. The epidermis is in a constant state of renewal, completely replacing itself every 28 days. The miracle starts in the lower layers of the epidermis, where new cells are continually forming. As they mature, they slowly work their way to the surface, where after becoming depleted of moisture, are sloughed off. At Skincare 101 we'll help you find the beautiful skin you were born with using a skincare regimen designed just for you. As your skin is always changing (and so is technology) we recommend a review of your skincare regimen at least twice a year. As new products come onto the market we personally research them, looking for answers to each unique skincare problem we see.

Dry Skin
Dry skin is caused by a lack of natural moisturizers within our skin or by damage to the protective film that prevents moisture loss from within our skin. How our skin feels is influenced by many factors- the weather, our age, our work, contact with certain substances, medication, frequent washing and our genetic makeup. Dry skin is a very common skin problem but different people suffer to a different degree.
Dehydrated skin is thirsty! Your skin feels tight and even chapped sometimes. It may feel uncomfortable when you are under stress.

Truly dry skin can be scaly, it can itch and react with cosmetic procedures including chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Dry skin can be part of greater issues including eczema and Xerosis.
Skincare 101 is skincare that comes with a doctor. We'll develop a skincare program that's right for your dry skin.

Acne Skin
Most people will suffer from spots and oily skin at some time during their teenage and early adult years. This can be a real drain on one's self confidence, particularly for those with more severe forms of acne. Women who develop acne as adults need to be treated differently.
Acne prone skin may have an odd shine to the skin, undefined bumps under your skin, enlarged pores, sudden breakouts. Acne sensitive skin often has sore, undefined bumps, cysts or pustules, or blackheads on cheeks, forehead or nose. Your self esteem suffers, and your skin is never calm.

Adult acne is mystifying to those who get it. At Skincare 101 our program will calm the skin and clear the acne, often completely clearing the issue.

Environmentally Damaged Skin
We are all exposed to the sun and air pollution whether it be casually or in extreme doses. This exposure along with smoking, alcohol, medications, stress, and harsh weather conditions leave the skin with a dull, dry, discolored, and lined complexion. In more profound cases, pre-cancerous/cancer lesions may appear. These damaging agents present in the environment cause the skin to age prematurely and increase hyperpigmentation.

Hyperpigmentation is the discoloration of skin and is usually a result of photo-sensitizing agents or hormonal changes in the body such as pregnancy and menopause. Excessive sun exposure and lack of sun protection always worsen this condition. You may have had excessive sun exposure while taking certain medications (antibiotics, tranquilizers, diuretics, etc.) or used facial depilatories, bleaches, or waxing procedures to remove hair. You have been using over-the-counter acne preparations. And, you probably do not always use sunscreen when outdoors.

Prematurely aged skin suffers from decreased cellular turnover. Fewer cells are replacing old ones. When dead skin cells do not shed rapidly, it results in a dry, dull, wrinkled complexion. Dry, fine lines are beginning to deepen and is no longer firm and elastic. Your skin feels thinner and is showing "spider veins" on the face and chest. These are indications of sun damage.

Prematurely aging skin and hyperpigmentation are very common issues we see at Skincare 101. We’ll develop a regimen that removes the outer layers of cells, improves the discoloration, and leaves your skin refreshed and renewed.
