Cosmetic
Asian Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty for an individual of Asian heritage is performed when a change in the eyelid crease or eyelid skin fold is desired. A 'single" (low or absent) eyelid or a "double" (high crease) eyelid may be present. The eyelid crease in the double eyelid may be nasal tapering or horizontal. A double eyelid allows application of makeup, and some believe the appearance to be more open or alert.

The Asian eyelid and eyebrow may be thick in appearance because of an abundance of fat. This may be reduced if desired.

We understand that those of Asian heritage have an individual concept of beauty, and don't merely want "Westernization" of the eyelid. We encourage those desiring consultation for Asian blepharoplasty to bring photographs of ideal desired appearances. Possibilities will be discussed and technical explanations will be given. Dr. Lemke has trained 3 Korean blepharoplasty surgeons and is co-author of a scientific paper on the subject.

Example 1
This woman had a double right upper eyelid with a nasal tapering crease and a single left upper eyelid. At her request, a left upper eyelid blepharoplasty was performed to match the desired right side.

Example 2
This 30 year old lady with single (no eyelid crease) upper eyelids desired the creation of nasal tapering creases.  She brought pictures of the type of creases she wanted. The surgery was designed to exactly reproduce the ideal.
